Christmas 2010

Barcomb Family 2010
Greetings from the Barcomb family and most notably the writer in the family… Canis Lupus Familiaris, a.k.a. Solo the dog. First let me say how happy it made me that last year’s letter was so well received and because of the positive response mom’s handing over the leash again this year. Unfortunately I’m dog-tired these days and was a little worried about squeezing in my twelve daily naps, when I received this letter from our beloved Patches up in Heaven who sums up 2010 quite nicely (I know… a bit of a stretch… said the dog pawing away at the computer). Well, gotta go… time for my 12:15 nap… enjoy!

Dear Solo, How are you old girl? I see mom has put you in charge of the family Christmas letter again this year. You’re one lucky dog! I had hoped to get the chance to author a letter or two, but sadly it wasn’t meant to be. Besides I had more important things to attend to while I was alive like pee-mailing, feline chasing and excavating… you know, priorities! And while I love my new wings, I still miss you all very much. Although the great thing about Heaven is I am with you always and watch over you all the time… well most of the time… a guardian angel’s still gotta make time for play!

So it looks as if you’ve had quite the year… getting all that extra time with mom, no wonder you’ve had to squeeze in a couple extra naps. The little guy is finally off to preschool this year, huh? And it appears he’s quite the dog lover... I see you’ve got him wrapped around your big thumping tail! Just remember he’s only 4 and he doesn’t know that Milkbone’s go straight to the hips! Besides school he sure is busy with all of his sports… I wonder which one he’ll finally pick… soccer, baseball and now basketball? Well whatever he decides he better figure it out soon. Mom and dad’s retirement depends on it!

And then there’s our princess… wow I can’t believe Lexi’s already 7, in second grade now and a competitive cheerleader! She has become quite the athlete I see! Did you know she learned to jump like that from me? And how nice that she is perfecting her tumbling in the house, so you don’t get kicked in the head as much these days… always a good thing! That little girl is keeping quite the schedule this year… cheerleading, tumbling, cheerleading, religious ed. classes for her First Communion next May, Girl Scouts, oh and did I mention cheerleading? And she also finds time to squeeze in school too! Maybe that’s why you’re so tired… trying to keep up with the Energizer-Lexi!

Well, overall it looks like you are all doing well and having a great time even without me around to make life… shall we say, interesting?! I see mom is still out of the house a lot volunteering her time to the schools and various activities the kids are involved with and still having a hard time learning the fine art of saying “No” to things. Funny how she never had a problem saying it to me??? And it looks like dad is still travelling a bit for work with the same company, Blue Mountain Telecommunications, and bringing home the bacon… which is just a saying so stop drooling all over my letter!  And you my dear soul sister… my forever companion… make me beam from the heavens for loving our family enough for the two of us! I know it was lonely when the family went off to Seattle this summer for vacation and on those weekends they travelled for cheerleading competitions, but know, my dear friend… I am always with you. And while I wait here on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge for the day when we can be together again, know that I am in no hurry. The family needs you more than I do right now. Besides I have Papa and all of our friends who have already journeyed over the bridge to keep me company until we are reunited. I love all of you and miss you, and am always watching, protecting, waiting! Forever your loveable fur-ball, Patches

P.S. We just got on Facebook up here, so write on my wall or poke me sometime! Even God has a profile… you should see how many “friends” He has…

Well, I enjoyed my nap and hoping you enjoyed Patches letter even more! On behalf of all of us… human, dog and angels… may you all be blessed with joy, love and lots of tail wags this holiday season… and health and happiness in the new year! God bless you all! Now I think I’ll go take a nap…

Love Dan, Angie, Lexi, Hunter and yours truly, Solo!!!
